Challenge # 001: Your Username

Hello everybody!

Welcome to gw500, the DreamWidth mirror to gw500. This comm is brand new, so to celebrate, we’ll have special introductory prompts for the first three weeks. Let’s ring in this little comm in style!

For our first week, the challenge is your very own username.

Every name has a story, a special meaning, or something it’s easy to misspell as. You are hereby challenged to write whatever your own username inspires. And if you feel so inclined, we would love to hear the story behind the name and get to know you a little while you’re at it. :)

If, for any reason, you can’t or would rather not base your fic on your own username, drop me a line and I’ll provide you with a unique, personalized prompt. This option will only be available during the opening weeks! Don’t despair; you don’t have to take the prompts literally or defend your results when your fic doesn’t make the inspiration obvious. If the prompt is “beer” and you misread it as “beet”, you are absolutely free to write something about beets instead.

You have until midnight of today in your own time zone to get the previous challenge in. I have no idea when this is, so do feel free to abuse that mystery deadline where needed. ;) The next prompt will be posted on Friday, October 1st.

(By the way, I don't know if you remember, but you once filled a 4x12x3 prompt of mine in the GW Kink Meme. Is there any chance I'll get to bookmark that story again one day? I loved it to bits and pieces and I'm a little sad I can't rec it around anymore. ^.^; )

I do remember it! And I am sorry it's not in my LJ anymore -- I've been frustrated lately myself losing fic bookmarks to deleted journals. I was intending to give it some (hopefully minor) edits before reposting it and uploading it to AO3. I shall bump it up the priority queue. I've been so much in anxious, self-critical writer mode, everything is getting edits before uploading to AO3. ^^;;

Okay, that's good to hear. I'll keep an eye out. :) And haha, I recognize that scenario. I'm doing the same thing, minus the deleting stuff from where I'd previously posted it. Too many fics written too long ago, and too many places to crosspost the edited versions to. Eek!
